Today, Apple Canada lists the 256GB iPhone 17 at C$1,299.
That’s not a discount.
That’s a C$170 increase.
Same iPhone generation. Same 256GB storage capacity. One year older. Yet the price on Apple Canada is now about 15% higher than the original launch price.
Anyone who waited for the usual “last year’s iPhone” savings got quite the surprise.
Then Came the iPhone 18 Pro
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, reshuffling its Canadian iPhone lineup at the same time.
The new iPhone 18 Pro starts at C$1,749, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at C$1,899.
And Apple Canada’s current lineup creates an unusual price ladder.
The iPhone 17e starts at C$999, followed by the iPhone 16 at C$1,149.
Then comes the iPhone 17 at C$1,299.
Above that sits the iPhone Air at C$1,599, before you reach the new iPhone 18 Pro at C$1,749.
Instead of becoming the obvious discounted choice after the arrival of a newer generation, the iPhone 17 now occupies the middle of Apple’s increasingly expensive Canadian lineup.
So Why Did the iPhone 17 Get More Expensive?
That’s where things become less clear.
Apple’s own numbers confirm the increase: the 256GB iPhone 17 launched at C$1,129 and is now listed at C$1,299 in Canada.
