One Good Deed, One Knife, One Race Against Time

A 52-year-old Barrie man tried to do the right thing — and ended up in hospital.

On Monday night, November 2, 2026, at about 10:20 p.m., the man stepped in to break up a fight in a parking lot in the area of Essa Road near Tiffin Street. He was struck in the arm with what was described as a dagger-style knife.

The group ran from the area toward Cumberland Street.

Simcoe County Paramedics located the victim suffering from an apparent stab wound, and he was transported to hospital for treatment.

Caught Within Minutes

Within minutes, officers spotted three youths running along Cumberland Street who matched the descriptions of those involved. All three were taken into custody and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters.

Police say a group of teenagers had been involved in a verbal argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation — until a passerby noticed the fighting and attempted to intervene.

Three Teens Charged

As a result of the investigation, three 16-year-olds — two females and one male — are charged with causing a disturbance. The male is also facing additional charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Despite an extensive search of the area, police say no weapon was recovered. The Barrie Police occurrence number is BA26069859.

The charges have not been proven in court.
