NBA China and Shanghai East Asia Sports Culture Center Co. Ltd. will hold the first NBA Shanghai Basketball Festival from Aug. 24-30 in Shanghai, with NBA G League United set to face the 2025-26 CBA champion Shanghai Sharks twice.
The games are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, and Sunday, Aug. 30, at Shanghai Indoor Stadium. The NBA G League says they will mark its first games against a Chinese Basketball Association team.
NBA G League United is a team made up of top G League players. Its roster will be announced in the coming weeks, according to the release.
Games and ticket sales
Tickets for both G League United-Shanghai Sharks games are scheduled to go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 18, through the JUSS Sports App and JUSS Sports’ WeChat channel.
The festival is promoted by Shanghai East Asia Sports Culture Center and pairs the games with a week of fan programming at Shanghai Xujiahui Sports Park.
Free fan carnival
The NBA Shanghai Basketball Festival Fan Carnival will run from Monday, Aug. 24, through Aug. 30. Organizers describe it as a free event for fans of all ages.
Programming is set to include:
- Interactive basketball activities
- Local entertainment
- Meet-and-greets with NBA G League and Shanghai Sharks players
- Viewing parties featuring historic games
- Official NBA merchandise
The event gives Shanghai fans a full week of NBA-backed basketball activities, culminating in the two G League United-Shanghai Sharks matchups.
