Anita Anand to Join Canada’s UN Delegation
Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand will participate alongside Prime Minister Mark Carney during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week.
According to Global Affairs Canada, Anand’s schedule will include meetings with international partners, participation in multilateral events and discussions focused on issues affecting Canada and the wider international community.

Anand and key partners will co-host a foreign ministers’ meeting on maritime security. The meeting is intended to advance international cooperation on the issue and support the objectives of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Declaration on Maritime Security and Prosperity.
Canada has also identified maritime security and ocean protection as international priorities.

Anand will also attend a meeting focused on Sudan.
Global Affairs Canada says the meeting is intended to strengthen international coordination in support of conflict de-escalation and inter-Sudanese political dialogue.
The planned discussion is part of Canada’s High-Level Week engagement on global challenges.
Ukraine Remains Part of Canada’s UN Engagement
The Canadian delegation will also participate in discussions concerning Ukraine.
Anand will meet with Nordic-Baltic Eight counterparts to discuss deepening cooperation between Canada and those countries while sustaining support for Ukraine.
She will also attend the Sixth Summit of the International Crimea Platform.
According to Global Affairs Canada, Canada will use the summit to reaffirm its position on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Meeting on Civilian Protection
Another planned event will focus on protecting civilians during armed conflicts.
Global Affairs Canada says Anand will participate in a ministerial event highlighting the importance of civilian protection amid humanitarian needs and concerns about respect for international humanitarian law.

Canada to Participate in Two-State Solution Discussion
Anand will also join Prime Minister Carney at a leader-level event co-hosted by Canada concerning the two-state solution and the Gaza Peace Plan.
