Man Charged After Vaughan Gas Station Robbery and Lottery Ticket Theft
York Regional Police have charged a 42-year-old man after a gas station robbery in Vaughan — and say the same suspect used a kiosk to check the stolen tickets at another gas station minutes later.
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a gas station in the area of Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue West. Police say a suspect entered the store, pushed an employee and fled with numerous lottery tickets.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., the same suspect attended another gas station in the area and used a lottery kiosk to check the tickets.
Following the investigation, police identified the suspect as Julian Yousif, 42, of no fixed address. On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Yousif was arrested at a hotel in the area of Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.
Yousif has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Fraud Under $5,000
- Two counts of Fail to Comply With Probation Order
A security camera image of Yousif has been released. Investigators are urging anyone who may have been a victim of a robbery involving Yousif to contact police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630.
The charges have not been proven in court.
The Twikup Take
The detail that stands out is the 15-minute gap: police say the stolen tickets were being checked at a kiosk almost immediately after the robbery. And the arrest may not be the end of it — investigators released the photo because they believe there may be other victims.
