Gunfire Erupts at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks
Two masked men opened fire on an occupied parked vehicle at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks on Saturday afternoon, triggering a police investigation that led to one arrest.
Vancouver Police say witnesses reported the shooting at approximately 4:50 p.m. on September 26. Bystanders managed to record the licence plate of the sedan used by the suspects before they fled.
Police Track Down Suspect Sedan
Officers later located the sedan and conducted a vehicle stop near Fraser Street and East 49th Avenue.
One suspect was taken into custody, while the second remained outstanding when VPD released its update Sunday.
Investigators also recovered the vehicle that had been fired upon. However, police said they had not located or identified anyone who was inside it.
VPD believes the shooting was targeted and isolated, with no perceived continuing threat to the general public.
Major Crime Investigators Seek Video
The VPD Major Crime Section is leading the case.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or captured dashcam footage around Spanish Banks on Saturday afternoon to contact investigators.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including who was inside the targeted vehicle and what led to the attack, remain under investigation.
