The Appeal Is New — But the Robbery Happened in August

Halton Regional Police released suspect photos on November 6, asking the public to identify a man from a robbery that happened more than two months earlier, on August 28 in Oakville.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. that day, an adult man was riding his bicycle on Kerr Street when the suspect approached him, suddenly grabbed the bicycle's handlebars and attempted to pull the victim from the bike in an effort to take it.

The suspect was unsuccessful in taking the bicycle — but he stole the victim's sunglasses before fleeing on foot, last seen travelling west on Stewart Street. The victim suffered minor physical injuries as a result of the altercation.

Who Police Are Looking For

The suspect is described as white, middle-aged, with a medium build and short brown/dark hair. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a red short-sleeved shirt over a light-coloured long-sleeve shirt, dark pants, tan/brown shoes and dark gloves, and he was carrying a dark-coloured plaid jacket.

Anyone who may be able to identify the suspect is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777, ext. 2216.

The Twikup Take

A cyclist was grabbed in broad daylight — and the only thing the suspect got away with was a pair of sunglasses. This case will move only if someone recognizes the man in the photo. Two months later is still better than never.
